Ray Puckett - Owner & Founder

Ray Puckett is the owner of At Home Caregivers and functions as the Administrator for day to day operations. He began his career in Physical Therapy at the VA Hospital as a Rehab Technician in 1993 while attending Jefferson College. After graduating in 1995 he practiced in multiple settings with a primary focus in Orthopedics and Geriatrics. He has been involved in the medical field for over 20 years to include being a partner in an outpatient physical therapy practice and serving as a Director of Rehab in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

Ray is a native of Alabama, (ROLL TIDE!) but Virginia is his home. He and Paige, his wife of 23 years, have raised their family here and feel blessed to be in such a beautiful area. They have 2 sons, Andrew & Adam, both graduates of Lord Botetourt High school. As a family they take every opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. They are active members of Orchard Hills Church. Ray loves to hunt, fish, kayak, hike, golf, snow ski, and exercise. This area is conveniently located to take advantage of his many hobbies outside of work.

Ray served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Army and retired in 2011 from the Army Reserves. He has had the pleasure of serving in numerous places and did two tours of duty in Iraq.

As Ray was nearing the end of his military career he felt the urge to combine his healthcare and military experiences. He wanted to help others and as he reflected on his past experiences he recalled the pleasure he always experienced when working with seniors. He discovered a company called Companion Connection Senior Care that would assist him in the startup of this business and allow the autonomy that he desired. He did not want to be part of a franchise for fear that it would lose the personal touch. In December of 2010 he founded "At Home Caregivers". Ray could not be happier with this decision because as he has tells everyone “It has been a blessing to work with so many families to resolve their need for care and offer the solutions that work for them.”

Dana Atkins - Business Office Manger

Dana was born in Kentucky, but being a "military brat" she moved 33 times by the time she was 20. She has lived in 6 states and abroad. Dana moved to the Roanoke area from Florida when she was 21, to be closer to her family. While living in Florida, she had the privilege of working with an amazing group of mentally handicapped adults." My time with them was a life changing event, I don't know who was teaching who". As a houseparent at Key Pine Village, our goal was to have eventually move into a group home.

Dana enjoyed an opportunity to work as a caregiver before joining the team with "At Home Caregivers" in April 2014. In her short time there, she has been able to do what she enjoys the most...Connecting with the clients and caregivers on a personal level.

Dana has one son named Aaron. He is a senior this year, at James River High School. Where she is head of Hospitality for the PTSA.

They attend church at New Creations Ministries in Salem, where she helps assist the treasurer and leads the hospitality committee.

She mostly enjoys spending time with her son, and her best friend "Rudy".
